2014 onakai junior kumite championships

Congratulations to our Junior Competitors who took part in the O.N.A.K.A.I. All Ireland Kumite Championships 2014 which were held on Saturday October 18th in Tallaght, Dublin. A total of 45 IKKU fighters entered the All Ireland All Styles event, and they topped the medal table taking home a total of 18 medals. IKKU Clubs represented at the event were Navan, Cork, Cloghroe, Glasnevin, Larkhill and Karate Ash.

In the Female Age 6/7 event the IKKU swept the boards. Navan's Lucy Mulhern and Megan Carolan took gold and silver, with Karate Ash's Sarah Jane Behan taking bronze. Cork's Mabel Hayes took the honours in her category. In Age 12/13 Section the IKKU dominated proceedings - Cork's Jessica Cotter took the title. Rachel Murphy and Jessie O' Reilly both took home bronze. Larkhill's Katerina Susko put in a great performance to win silver in a very competitive 16/17 Category.

In the Male event, Navan's Eoin Clynch won gold in a fiercely contested section. His club mate Ryan Durning battled hard to take bronze in his section. Glasnevins's Tomas Kelly won bronze in Boys Age 5/6. Larkhill's Ryan Coleman fought his way to silver, and his club mate Harry Barham took home bronze in his category. Cloghroe's Hieu Power took silver in the Male Age 12, losing out to an experienced fighter. His club mate, Cloghroe's Sean Mc Carthy, went one better to take the title in Boys Age 13. Navan's Ruaidhri Collins saw off all challenges to take the spoils. On his way to victory, he defeated his club mate and training partner Adam Durning, who collected a bronze medal for his efforts.

A big congratulations to The IKKU's latest batch of 6 All Ireland Champions. Navan's Eoin Clynch, Ruaidhri Collins and Lucy Mulhern. Cork's Mabel Hayes and Jessica Cotter. And Cloghroe's Sean Mc Carthy. Well done to all IKKU Coaches and also a big thank you to all parents for their support.
